Mark Philippoussis is an Australian professional tennis player of Greek and Italian descent. He has won the Davis Cup for Australia twice, in 1999 and 2003. Philippoussis is nicknamed 'Scud' after the Scud missile because he often served at rocket-like speeds. The 38-year old right-hander started playing tennis at the age of 6 and has won 11 career singles titles and 3 doubles titles since turning pro in 1994. Philippoussis was known for his deadly serves which were made even more potent thanks to his imposing height. He was also good while playing at-the-net volleys and had a dangerous array of groundstrokes. Adding to all this, he was also decently quick especially for his height. His aggressive shots and well-rounded abilities in both defence and attack often put his opponents in a spot of bother.
After representing the Philippine Mavericks in the first two seasons, Mark Philippoussis will now be a part of the Indian Aces for the upcoming season.
