Kirsten Flipkens is a Belgian tennis professional. She won accolades as a junior for winning the Wimbledon and US Open in 2003, became a pro in the same year. Nicknamed 'Flipper', she is known for her trademark glasses. She suffered a back injury in the initial phase of her career, which kept her out of the game for a while. Kirsten considers herself 'an all court player', whose biggest strength is her serve and all-round game. With an ability to play almost every shot, she is also very agile on court, making her a difficult opponent. Her trademark shot is a backhand slice, and considers grass as her favourite surface.
This is Flipkens' second Coca-Cola IPTL appearance and she would add strength to the Japan Warriors' team having represented the Manila Mavericks (now known as Philippine Mavericks) in the first season.
